The 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom home was built in 2015 and overlooks the National Wildlife Refuge of Isla Canas, the world-renowned Olive Ridley (Lepidochelys olivacea) sea turtle nesting grounds. The home was built using a blend of bamboo, steel, and concrete block construction with native hardwood Guayacan floors and varied hardwood accents. The walls are Plycem, an environmentally-sustainable and energy-efficient fiber cement sheet that's strong yet light and resistant to water, humidity, insects, and fire. The Plycem has been layered with a durable Merlex stucco, on the interior and exterior of the home. The roof is durable zinc with a gutter catchment system that channels rainwater into four large storage tanks, a big plus in this seasonally dry region of Panama.
